thenotwritter - Communications, Writing & Head Mod

It’s such an honor to be hosting this zine! I’m in love with these boys and their shenanigans, and I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with!
I’m a fanfic writer who’s co-hosted two fandom events so far: the Akeshuake Advent Calendar and the Akeshuake One Day event. I’ve also been a contributor for the zines “Always with You”, “Seasons of Souyo” and “Dear Partner”.
In my free time from fandom, I’m a film producer and screenwriter.

Honk, I'm Gumi your local zine goose! I've been in fandom for over 15 years and modded for several fanevents + zines for various fandoms which you can see in my carrd. I'm hoping to bring everyone a timely and transparent experience with this zine together with the rest of the mod team.
Mod Swan and I have also met IRL several times, so we hope this brings some increased accountability to the project!

Swan (zhangjiales) - Shipping Mod

Hello! I'm Swan. I love Persona 5, and Akeshu especially so. I have been the head/org mod on two Genshin Impact zines, and writing mod on multiple others. This is my first time as an official shipping mod on a zine, but I have shipped private group orders for friends before. In interests of accountability, I have provided contingency plans to the rest of the team in case of emergencies, and Mod Gumi and I have met IRL multiple times. Happy to be here!

Graphic Artist from São Paulo, Brazil. Loves movies, books and comics!
Has a passion for PEANUTS of the Japanese variety. Still listens to rock bands from the 90s. Would totally still wear the same clothes he wore in the 90s... but ate too

Yua (YuaXIII) - Art Mod

I'M SO EXCITED TO BE HERE!! You can call me Yua, I'm 29 years old and I go by she/her. Akeshu has had me by the throat since 2020, and I want to give the fandom in return as much as they gave me by highlighting your greatest Akeshuake pieces. I've been Art Mod and contributor in the "Fun in the Sun (Arcana)!" zine, contributor in "Destripando la Historia", "Kouhai Goro" and the cancelled "Jazz Jin Secret Menu" zine. I'm also the mod for the BottomJokerWeek and TopGoroWeek Twitter events. I can't wait to see your amazing works!

List of Manufacturers

This is a list of all manufactures that made our merch and books, for the reference of future zines who would like some recommendations. Shipping for most items was air shipping (to the US) and are included in the prices:- Keness: 2 books, about 110 pages each, B5, perfect bound, full color, paper inside 80# Premium Text (120gsm), paper cover 10pt C1S (219gsm).
Best customer service, hands down! Although there was a printing problem and we ended up having a lot of A- grade zines, we were never charged for those and Ken worked tirelessly to solve the issue with the printing. The A grade zines were great and I would love to work with Keness again.
180 units of One Night were $2,275, and 450 of One Day were $5,100. Samples were free but we had to pay $50 ahead of production.
- Dongguan Caitian Craft Products: 3” charm, acrylic, double side printing, no glitter or holo, heart-shaped clasp.
310 units with some cute packaging was only $156. They made a sample for free and we were able to give them feedback about the cut around the design. In the end, it wasn’t the best quality for a charm, but the clasp gave it some pizzazz.
- Zhejiang Jintanhao Daily Necessities: 2 acrylic magnets, size 3”.
Despite some miscommunications that delayed production for a few weeks, we ended up ordering 310 units of each magnet, and paid $400. The sample was $20, and we were able to adjust the colors, but the colors of the final product were not ideal.
- Shenzhen Yuhe Gift: Bamboo coaster, 4”.
The sample was $15, but it helped us decide between bamboo and MDF coasters, a material that felt cheaper in comparison. 320 units were $271.
- Wenzhou Zhenhong Arts&Crafts Co, AKA Juno: heart-shaped buttons, 5x6 cm.
The famous Juno was a disappointment in terms of customer service and quality of their stickers (that’s why we decided to order our stickers someplace else). Communication with them was very slow and scattered, and in the end, we decided to only make the heart-shaped buttons with them, and that was mostly because we had already finished the artwork using their heart-shaped design (other manus had different designs). 320 units of each button were $367, and in the end, the quality of those was good. Samples were $10.
- Kunshan Lingzhilong Hardware Factory: soft enamel, 1.5", black nickel plating.
330pcs for $787. The only manu I openly do not recommend. Some of the pins had dust bumps caked into the paint, some of them had a drop of different color paint in the middle of their section, and some of them had a little bit of the ribbon unfilled. They didn’t do a quality check and it showed. They remade the pins for free but we had to pay for the shipping again. There were no samples since they required a mold, which was $90.
- CatPrint: 2x6” bookmark, 3 4x4” ‘polaroid’ prints, 4.25x4.5" wedding invite, all heavy card stock satin.
It was a little hard to navigate their website at first, but later it became super helpful to get quotes automatically. We ordered 370 wedding invitations, 450 of each polaroid, and 450 bookmarks, totaling $679. Beautiful colors and material!
- Mixam US: 3 prints, 4x6”, sating paper, 100lb cover, soft touch lamination.
450 of the travel prints, and 370 of each of the other prints were $154. The joys of getting a quote and buying everything with a few clicks! Really great quality, but I’d go with a thicker paper for future prints.
- Bunnies and Cream, AKA Sticker Bunny: 2 3” stickers, 4x6” sticker sheet.
Great service although the back and forth via email wasn’t as smooth as with the other manus. We ordered 380 units of each sticker and 370 of the sheet, totaling $682.
- Washi Mill: stamp washi, 25mmx5m, each roll with heat shrink wrap packing.
We couldn’t get samples because the plate was expensive, and we hesitated over the EXW shipping which we hadn’t used before, but we were happy to have used Washi Mill in the end. 320 rolls were $510.
- Packlane: mailer box, 10.25"x 7.25"x 2"
The best quality and delivery time for our money. We made a custom box for full orders since we had the extra money and so many items to fit in a single package. The quality of the box was not out of this world, but it worked well as a treat for the community after all their wonderful support. We paid $1,131 for 300 units.
